Veterinary Services Available Providing the highest quality of care possible is a priority of Gardner Animal Hospital. Our hospital is equipped with diagnostic ultrasound, X-ray and ECG capabilities, gas anesthesia (isoflurane), reproductive ultrasound, ultrasonic dental scaling and polishing equipment, and laboratory equipment to perform urinalysis, cytology and the routine blood chemistry and CBC tests. More extensive blood work, cytology or histopathology analysis is sent either to local reference laboratories or to Kansas State University. Our doctors are thorough in workups of medical cases and will recommend those tests necessary for diagnosis and treatment of your pet's condition. Surgical procedures include all elective spay, neuter, declaw, tumor removal, and cosmetic surgeries (i.e. ear crops, tail docks, eyelid surgeries). In addition, we perform emergency surgeries and orthopedic procedures such as cruciate ligament rupture, patellar luxation and fracture repairs. Advanced dental procedures available include root canals, fillings and gingivectomies. Reproductive services include estrus and semen evaluation, artificial insemination, pregnancy evaluations (ultrasound and radiographic), assisted breeding and birthing. Our doctors consult regularly with veterinary specialists and may refer your pet's care to those specialists if in your pet's best interest. back to top All patients being admitted for surgery should arrive by 8:30 a.m. These patients should have no food or water after 10 p.m. the night before. For protection of other animals in the hospital as well as your pet's, vaccinations are required to be up to date at admission. A member of the office staff will contact you as soon as your pet has recovered from anesthesia following surgery. Patients will be discharged based upon their recovery from surgery, their health status and potential complications. Most neuter, spay, dental and skin tumor removal surgery patients can go home the same day they are admitted. Declaw patients will be discharged the day following surgery. When you drop off your pet, please make a discharge appointment to pick up your pet for after care instructions. back to top In most cases, we encourage you to visit your pet when it is hospitalized for more than one day. Exceptions may be if your pet needs to be kept very quiet or has a contagious disease. Please call before visiting to make sure that the visitation time is best for your pet and the hospital staff. back to top Payment is expected at the time service
is rendered. We accept Mastercard, Visa, American Express, cash, and
personal checks. We make every effort to make sure fees are fair and
reasonable and will give you a printed estimate of charges before services
are rendered. Insurance Several companies now offer pet healthcare insurance. For a nominal monthly fee, your pet's healthcare expenses excluding previously existing conditions can be covered by insurance. Most policies require the pet owner to pay a minimal deductible or the first 20% of expenses. With diagnosis and treatment for many diseases costing $400-$800 and some several times that high, insurance may be a good option for some pet owners. Pamphlets are available at the hospital. back to top Full service professional pet grooming is available on an appointment only basis. Look at some before and after pictures here. We require all pets presented for grooming be vaccinated for rabies but strongly recommend they be current on all their vaccinations. If you wish for any veterinary services to be performed while your pet is here for grooming (vaccinations, heartworm checks, etc.) or for a doctor to address a specific health concern, please inform the receptionist at the time of check in. All grooms are requested to be present at the hospital by 8:00 a.m. The groomer will call you when your pet is ready to be picked up or you can arrange a pick-up time when you drop off your pet. back to top We offer boarding for cats and dogs in our heated and air-conditioned kennel. We now have a new website devoted entirely to boarding services. Check it out at www.dogdaysinnks.com For the protection of your pet, as well as other pets being boarded, we require all boarding pets to be current on vaccinations, have a negative fecal exam in the last six months and be absent of ticks and fleas. Vaccinations required for dogs include rabies, distemper, parvovirus, parainfluenza, adenovirus and bordetella. Cats must be vaccinated for rabies, feline rhinotracheitis, calicivirus and panleukopenia. We strongly recommend vaccination for feline leukemia virus for your cat and coronavirus for your dog's optimal protection. If fleas or ticks are found on your pet, they will be treated at the owner's expense. If you wish to bring bedding, toys, etc. for your pet, they must be machine washable and we take no responsibility if they should become lost. If your pet is on medication at home, please bring the medication with you when dropping off your pet. We offer pet baths at reduced price for boarding pets on the day they are to go home. back to top We offer a variety of Obedience Training programs - Click here for more details
