PET DENTAL MONTH
Just like humans, pets can have mild to serious dental issues so it is important for owners to have their veterinarians take a close look at their pet’s teeth. Pets almost never show obvious signs of dental disease, but when pet owners fix the problem, the animal will feel better and the owner will typically notice a positive change in behavior. How can you as a pet owner prevent serious dental issues? For dogs, avoid chew toys that can break teeth like cow hooves and hard nylon bones. In cats and dogs, the most effective way to prevent dental disease is to brush the animal’s teeth daily, use pet-friendly oral rinses, and allow them to chew bendable and flexible toys.
Don’t forget to talk to our Doctors and Technicians about proper dental care. They will be happy to answer all of your questions. Remember February is Pet Dental Month and Gardner Animal Hospital is offering 10% off all dental procedures.
